How to Picnic in Style with Your Girlfriends

Hi, everyone!

Welcome back to Happily Ever Style. This week, you're going to a picnic with me, and my girlfriends Cici (@newgirlnyc) and Lisa (@hilisays), in New Jersey!

Who says it's too late for a picnic? I think this time of the year is perfect for one, catching the last bit of summer before fall arrives. To be honest, I wouldn't mind being surrounded by ruby red leaves in the park either. But that's just me.

If you're a frequent picnic-goer, you're probably pretty skilled at knowing what to prepare for a good picnic. But in case you're not, I'm sharing tips to plan a stylish picnic. So not only will you have a great time with your girlfriends, but you will also have beautiful photos to share!

Find the Perfect Location

Your backdrop!

First Things First: Scout for the Perfect Location

There are tons of great spots in New York for a picnic, including Central Park, Byrant Park, East River State Park, Madison Square Park, and more. It all depends on what you want as your backdrop, and what you prefer to be surrounded by.

Bryant Park and Madison Square Park gets crowded over the weekends because they are both so conveniently located; they are simply too easy to get to. I think having both Shake Shack and a dog park right there in Madison Square Park makes it a popular hangout spot.

For us, we wanted to have New York City as our backdrop, so Cici found the perfect spot in New Jersey for us at the Liberty State Park!

Allocate Your Duties

List out everything that needs to be purchased or prepared first, then allocate it amongst yourselves. Our picnic came together so easily because we knew exactly what we each needed to bring ahead of time. Team work really is the best way to go! Sometimes it may be too much for one person to bring everything, and it is also more likely that something will get forgotten. So,  be sure to plan ahead as a group!

Coordinate Your Outfits

I mean, why not? Do it for the photos! Am I right? I personally love having themes for everything, so to me, this is the fun part!

For our picnic, we decided to go with "something floral." Well, unfortunately, as you can see in the photos, it was a major fail for ME because I barely own anything floral, and I didn't get a chance to find one in time!

Special thanks to Crowns By Christy (@crownsbychristy) for sponsoring us with the beautiful floral crowns.

Luckily, my outfit turned out theme-appropriate in the end, all thanks to Christy, who made us beautiful floral crowns!

It's not every day you can legitimately wear a floral crown (or I guess you can if you want to), and I think that's what got me feeling extra cheerful and feminine. It was so easy to put on and take off as well, and I love that it didn't ruin my hair or the makeup on my forehead in any way!

I think these floral crowns are perfect for bachelorette parties, bridal and baby showers, birthday celebrations, or other special occasions, in case you're wondering when exactly you'd ever need one. I personally would have been happy to get one for all my bridesmaids at my wedding!

Bring Props

Your set-up!

Don't Forget The Props

Other than the food and drinks you're bringing to savor and enjoy in the park, think about what else would help add that extra touch to your set up!

Having a complete picnic basket helps a lot since it has most of the things you'll need already. I got mine on Amazon and it came with a picnic blanket, a set of 4 glasses, plates, cutleries and even a bottle opener, too!

Have Fun!

For our picnic, Cici brought a pretty paper umbrella and Lisa had a cute fan with her. I packed my Fujifilm Instant Camera and my All in Good Taste book with me to add a hint of pink to the setting.

Enjoy and Have Fun

Last, but not least, bring your biggest smiles with you and enjoy a relaxing few hours with your girlfriends! This is, of course, the most important element!

That's all from me for now! Thank you for reading and have a wonderful week!

Love,
